    1. In 1867, Ajay O'Neil was listed on the Harris County voter rolls. The rolls said he had lived in Texas for 46 years, in Houston for one, and had been naturalized "by recent laws of Congress, being a native of Africa."

    Dick Goley also registered to vote in Houston in 1867, having lived in Texas for 31 years. Listed in the rolls as a "colored" man, he was naturalized "By law of Congress. Civil Rights Bill."

      Ned Antonio also registered to vote in Harris County in 1867. He had been in Texas only 6 years, and was listed in the rolls as "African."

        At least five men with the last name Lufkin were also identified in the 1867 Harris County rolls as Africans, naturalized by Reconstruction laws.
