                4. Hutchins St, parallel to Dowling, was named after Houston’s mayor in 1861-1862, later a Confederate cotton agent. tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fhu51

              5. Hutchins and Dowling Streets used to be West and East Broadway, respectively. They were renamed by Houston city council at same time.

          7. So both streets, Hutchins & Dowling, bordering historic African American park est. 1872, were renamed for CSA figures in 1892.
